Resources for Undocumented Students
Although undocumented students may qualify for a tuition exemption under AB 540
legislation, UCSB cannot provide any federal, state, or university funds to undocumented
students. However, undocumented students may pursue funds from outside agencies that
determine eligibility for their funds without regard to citizenship status.

students without regard to citizenship or that they have special scholarship programs

MALDEF (http://www.maldef.org) has
the most comprehensive listing of scholarships for students regardless of citizenship
status.

TELACU: The East Los Angeles Community Union
Each year, the LINC TELACU Education Foundation awards hundreds of scholarships to
students in California, Illinois, Texas and New York. To apply for a scholarship,
download the application and return it, with required attachments, to the office
indicated on the application.
Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corporation
Applicants must have demonstrated leadership through academic achievements and campus/community activities.
Applicants must be all Engineering, Applied Science, Computer Science, or Math majors.
Applicants must have an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Winning applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.

Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund
The Davis Putter Scholarship Fund provide need-based grants to students who are able
to do academic work at the college level and are actively working for peace and justice.
Davis-Putter scholars are both graduate and undergraduate students and must be enrolled
in an accredited school and receiving college credits for the time period covered by
their grant. Early recipients fought for civil rights, against McCarthyism, and for
peace in Vietnam. More recently, grantees have been active in the struggle against
racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of oppression; building the movement for
economic justice; and creating peace through international, anti-imperialist solidarity.

United States Hispanic Leadership Institute
Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders
Award
Students attending or accepted to a four-year institution are eligible for a $1000
scholarship. Students attending or accepted to a two-year institution are eligible for
a $500 scholarship. In addition, recipients will receive a scholarship to attend the
26th Annual National USHLI Conference in Chicago, IL.
Qualifications
Applicant must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student in a
four-year or two-year institution in the U.S. or U.S. territories, and demonstrate a
verifiable need for financial support. At least one parent must be of Hispanic ancestry.
Recipients must also be available to attend the 26th annual National USHLI Conference,
March 59, 2008 in Chicago, IL.
Deadline:
The complete application, which includes, the cover page and six (6) attachments, as
indicated on the cover letter, must be postmarked by January 11, 2008.
